Below is the 2018 Southern Sand Volleyball Adult Tournaments Schedule (events are added once confirmed), featuring the following events. All events are 2 person format events unless otherwise specified:

ESPL U23 SeriesWith the success of the ESPL junior series, which focuses on offering high-level junior beach tournaments during the Fall/Winter, we are now offering a series of events primarily during the May-July time period for those players who are no longer juniors but now young adults in the ages of 18-23. We do also allow Juniors and Seniors in high school to mix in with these events as they prepare to transition into young adulthood and potentially college. While the events are geared mostly for ladies with multiple Women’s divisions, there are Coed division opportunities.

  • Notes:
    • $20-25 per player
    • Check-in at 8:30AM.
    • Competition start at 9AM.
    • Women’s Open, AA, A and Coed Open, A

 

King of the Beach/Queen of the Beach Series (No partner needed! Just sign-up by yourself. Play with different partners in your division towards earning the most points. Play most of the time instead of sitting too!  Links to a registration page for each event will be added as event approaches). Series cash prize offered to player per gender with most points earned based on finishes across series events. Click here for points standings.

    • Discounted cost: $20/player
    • Check-in at 8:30AM.
    • Competition start at 9AM. Depending on numbers, play will typically wrap up by 2PM.
    • Men’s and Women’s divisions

    • Saturday, Sept 9: Coed 2s – Annual Dig for Duke charity event with proceeds going to Duke Children’s Hospital

    • Saturdays: Check-in 8:30AM. Competition start at 9AM.
    • Sundays: Check-in at 12::30PM. Competition start at 1PM.

 

 

Masters Tournament Series (click on links to go to a registration page for each event). Check-in at 8:30AM. Competition start at 9AM. For the 35+ crowd.

Adult/Junior Series  presented by YoLo Desert Cafe  Check-in at  8:30AM (Sat) or 12:30PM (Sun). Competition start at 9AM (Sat) or 1PM (Sun). Click on links to go to a registration page for each event.

  • Notes:
    • Division prizes per event and series prizes provided by YoLo. Check out the points standings for the series here
    • Played using reverse-coed rules on a women’s net with separate Adult/Junior 18U and Adult/Junior 14U divisions subject to interest
    • Any combination of male and female players is supported.
    • Males 15 or older will have to abide by the “10 ft attack rule” whereby they can only jump for an attack if taking off from behind the 10 ft line (marked by rope in the sand).
    • Teams with 2 females must designate 1 player as abiding to the “10 ft attack rule”.
    • Age cutoffs for Juniors based on USAV outdoor age division cutoffs.

 

VolleyAmerica Membership:

While not required for all events, if membership is mentioned as necessary for an event below, all participants must be current VolleyAmerica members to participate. Join here if not a member. It’s only $15 and lasts 365 days from date of purchase.

 

Registration Fees:

  • Standard – $40-50/team if registering more than 3 days prior to an event date ($20/player for King of the Beach/Queen of the Beach)
  • Late – $50-60/team if registering 3 days or less prior to event date ($30/player for King of the Beach/Queen of the Beach)

 

Divisions:

 

  • Open – Semi-professional/Professional Division. This division is intended for those looking for the highest level of play available. Cash or prizes offered to top player/team (minimum of 4 players/teams) or top 2 (minimum of 6 players/teams)
  • AA – Advanced level athlete. This division is intended for those with multiple years of playing experience, plays regularly (at least during certain times of the year), but not looking for semi-pro/pro-level competition. Cash or prizes offered to top player/team (minimum of 4 players/teams) or top 2 (minimum of 6 players/teams)
  • A – Intermediate level athlete. This division is for those with a year or more of playing experience and play somewhat regularly.  Prizes for first place team in each gender
  • BB – Beginner level athlete. This division is for those that are generally pretty new to the sport, perhaps playing in a tournament for the first time or considers themselves a rec player primarily. Prizes for first place team in each gender
