Below is the 2017 Southern Sand Volleyball Adult Tournament Schedule (tentative), featuring the following events:

Click on an event date below to proceed to a registration page. You  must be a current VolleyAmerica member to participate unless other wise specified. Join here if not a member. It’s only $15 and lasts 365 days from date of purchase.

  • King of the Beach/Queen of the Beach Series (No partner needed! Just sign-up by yourself. Play with different partners in your division towards earning the most points. Play most of the time instead of sitting too!  Links to a registration page for each event will be added as event approaches). Series cash prize offered to player per gender with most points earned based on finishes across series events. Click here for points standings.

      • Saturday, April 15: Coed 2s – Are you 35+? This is the Spring Master’s Tournament as part of our Masters Series listed below.
      • Saturday, April 22 : Coed 4s and Men’s/Women’s 2s Serve the Homeless Charity Event. Proceeds go to Families Together, a non-profit organization whose mission is moving Wake County families from homelessness to stable homes through mentoring, housing support and connecting to community resources. Note: VolleyAmerica membership is NOT required to participate.
      • Saturday, May 20th: Coed 4s and Men’s/Women’s/Coed 2sInaugural Serving up Hope Charity and Reunion Event – Proceeds go to Cancer Research. All former Southern Sand VB, vh1vball juniors, Club Red players and anyone else who has been a part of programs organized or assisted by Southern Sand co-founders, John Lysik and Mark Nalevanko, are invited to come out.
      • Saturday,  September 16th: Coed 2s – Are you 35+? This is the Fall Master’s Tournament (registration to open in early 2017) as part of our Masters Series listed below.

      • Saturdays: Check-in 8:30AM. Competition start at 9AM.
      • Sundays: Check-in at 12::30PM. Competition start at 1PM.

 

 

  • Masters Tournament Series (click on links to go to a registration page for each event). Check-in at 8:30AM. Competition start at 9AM. For the 35+ crowd.

 

 

  • Adult/Junior Series  presented by YoLo Desert Cafe  Check-in at  8:30AM (Sat) or 12:30PM (Sun). Competition start at 9AM (Sat) or 1PM (Sun). Click on links to go to a registration page for each event. 

 

 

 

 

 

Registration Fees:

  • Standard – $40-50/team if registering more than 3 days prior to an event date ($20/player for King of the Beach/Queen of the Beach)
  • Late – $50-60/team if registering 3 days or less prior to event date ($30/player for King of the Beach/Queen of the Beach)

 

Divisions:

King of the Beach/Queen of the Beach

  • Open
    • First Place
      • $70 (8 players minimum, otherwise prizes)
      • Add $10 for each additional player
    • Second Place
      • $30 (8 players minimum)
      • Add $5 for each additional player
  • AA and A
    • First Place – Prizes
    • Second Place – Prizes (8 players minimum)

Standard Doubles Tournaments

  • Open – Semi-professional/Professional Division. This division is intended for those looking for the highest level of play available. The payout scale with roughly 70% of registration fees paid out is as follows unless otherwise noted on a specific event’s registration page:
    • First Place
      • $100 – 4 teams
      • $120 – 5 teams
      • $150 – 6 teams
      • $170 – 7 teams
      • $200 – 8 teams
      • Add $20 for each additional team
    • Second Place
      • $50 – 4 teams
      • $60 – 5 teams
      • $70 – 6 teams
      • $80 – 7 teams
      • $90 – 8 teams
      • Add $10 for each additional team
  • AA – Advanced level athlete. This division is intended for those with multiple years of playing experience, plays regularly (at least during certain times of the year), but not looking for semi-pro/pro-level competition. The payout scale is as follows:
    • First Place
      • $50 – 4 teams (or 8 players for King of the Beach/Queen of the Beach)
      • $60 – 5 teams
      • $70 – 6 teams
      • $80 – 7 teams
      • $90 – 8 teams
      • Add $10 for each additional team
    • Second Place
      • Prizes (Cash may be offered based on size of field and whether an open payout is also being made at event)
  • A – Intermediate level athlete. This division is for those with a year or more of playing experience and play somewhat regularly.  Prizes for first place team in each gender
  • BB – Beginner level athlete. This division is for those that are generally pretty new to the sport, perhaps playing in a tournament for the first time or considers themselves a rec player primarily. Prizes for first place team in each gender
