New for 2014 – Qualification for Championships and Introduction of Majors: Most of the entries to the championships will be reserved for teams that automatically qualify by placing 1st in the highest division offered for each age group in any of the Carolina Region Jr Beach Tour events. If you participate in any of the following majors, teams finishing in the top 3 in the highest division offered for each age group earn an automatic bid.
If a team or both players on a team have already earned a bid from a previous event, then a bid will trickle down to the next placed team to as far as 2nd for a non-major and 5th place for a major. If a player earns a spot but has a partner who is unavailable to participate in the championships, then he/she can pick-up another player who has or has not qualified. If any remaining spots at the tour championships are left, then registration will open up first to players ranked in the top 16 in their age group from events on the Carolina Region Jr Tour followed by a first-come, first-serve sign-up in early July if any spots are still left. We are switching to this setup to ensure the event is viewed as a true championships where teams must strive to earn a spot in order to participate. There will also be season-ending events by various hosts held the last weekend of July which are open to anyone looking to cap off the beach season before school starts.

Host Hotel: Islander - located at the tournament site. Special group rate for participants/families of $125/night is available again for 2014. This is over 25% off the normal peak season/summer rate. Call 1-877-329-2541 and say you’re with the Carolina Region Jr Beach Volleyball group. They will reserve our block of rooms up until 7 days before the event (or until full) in an effort to accommodate any teams that qualify for the tournament in the last couple weeks before the championships. If space fills up, you can try to look at alternative hotels in nearby Cedar Point/Swansboro, the neighboring Holiday Trav-L-Park Campground or rentals through Blue Water Vacation Rentals.
Check-in starts at 8AM. Competition starts shortly after 9AM. Finals expected to be played in late afternoon while buffet-style dinner is being served. Season-ending awards will be announced at the conclusion of the finals.
Format (Full Match Play):
With an anticipated smaller field and contingent on the weather, we will make an effort to run the tournament, especially all playoffs, using full matches (best 2 out of 3 sets, first 2 sets to 21, third set to 15).
Cost/Registration (Per Team):
$50. Registration is currently open only to teams earning a bid. As space permits, non-qualified teams will be notified in order of their rankings for the year in early/mid July about a space being available for the team.
Dinner will be catered (optional participation) at an anticipated price of $11/adult and $5.50 for any child 12 years and younger.
