Join us on the beautiful white sand beaches of Gulf Shores, AL for the 3rd Annual Beach Wars in Gulf Shores Jr Beach VB Tourney! This is a cooperatively hosted event between the Gulf Coast Region/USAV Volleyball, Southern Sand Volleyball, and other junior beach clubs. It is the largest beach volleyball event in the Southeast during the winter season. Last year’s event featured around 100 teams.

Specific Event Notes (PLEASE READ!!!):

  • Divisions offered (Subject to interest. Divisions with less than 5 teams will be merged.)
    • Girls 18U,  16U , 14U
      • Bid divisions – For teams that earned a bid from a high finish at a previous 2017/2018 ESPL series event. CLICK HERE for the current list of players with automatic entry into the bid division for their respective age group.
      • Non-bid divisions – Open to everyone. Top teams based on pool play will have opportunity to work into the Bid division playoffs.
    • Girls 12U and Boys 18U, 16U, 14U
  • Format of Play (2 days)
    • Saturday (9AM-5PM) – Check-in for everyone is 8-8:30AM. Round-robin pool play with either playoff determination rounds or a 2nd round of pool play offered for large divisions in order to split teams into smaller sub-divisions leading into playoff seeding.
    • Sunday (9AM-2PM) –  Remaining rounds of playoffs. We will plan to wrap up by early afternoon to help people traveling by car get back to their destinations on same day.
  • Attention Beach club reps (REGISTRATION NOW OPEN) – If looking to RSVP/pay for several teams, email Mark at Southern Sand preferably by Jan 31st during the time period where groups of teams will be given priority registration for this event as part of the ESPL Winter Series for clubs. As we get closer to the event, we may not be able to guarantee support of additional large groups of teams so RSVP early. Registration placeholders will be added as RSVPs come in.
  • Attention Unaffiliated/Individual teams – We have plenty of space on the beach for this event, so you can go ahead and register below.
  • Location: Main Public Beach, Gulf Shores, AL near the Hangout.
  • Cost: $100/team until Jan 31st. $120/team starting Feb 1st.
  • National Tournament Bids: The Gulf Coast Region of USAV has designated this event a Beach Regional Qualifier so at least bids to the top team in each age division to the Regional Open division at the Beach National Championships in Siesta Key, FL (July 19-24) will be offered.

  • Registration will close at 11:59PM on Wednesday, February 21st or when full.

General Notes:

  • If signing up multiple teams, please register and pay for each team separately. The system is setup to only handle a single team registration at a time.
  • This event is USA Volleyball sanctioned. If you are not a member, join through your regional volleyball association. The following age cutoffs are used for this event:
    • 18U – Players who were born on or after Sept 1, 1999, or Players who were born on or after Sept 1, 1998 and a high school student during the current academic year
    • 16U – Players who were born on or after Sept 1, 2001
    • 14U – Players who were born on or after Sept 1, 2003
    • 12U – Players who were born on or after Sept 1, 2005
